Edmonton police are seeking help from the public in their investigation into the deaths of two women following a suspicious house fire last summer.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services received reports of a fire near 96th Street and 105A Avenue just before 9 a.m. on June 12. Fire crews arriving minutes later found a fire on the main floor of a vacant residential property.

Police arrived at the fire around 9 a.m. that day, the Edmonton Police Service said in a news release Thursday.

Firefighters found two women with life-threatening injuries, and both later died in hospital, police said.

Police are investigating the fire as suspicious and have identified two men as persons of interest.

Images of the men are included in Thursday's news release, which has been posted to the EPS website.

"We are confident that a member of the public will be able to assist us with identifying one or both of these males so we can talk to them about any information they might have about what happened," acting Det. Mike Rott said in the news release.

Police have not provided the names of the two women or the nature of their injuries.
