DIY fidget spinner with The Cynical Crafter
Be hip, cool and rad with this DIY based on the popular toy
You've seen them in the stores, you've seen them on the street and now you can make the damn things yourself.
The fidget spinner can come in a variety of sizes, structures and variations, but all have a bearing in the centre, designed to hold onto while the rest of the toy revolves around it as effortlessly as possible. The weight of the spinner allows for a smooth, fast spin and the centre can often balance on a variety of objects. Though the exact origin and patent of the fidget spinner is currently unclear, the fidget spun onto the scene last year, quickly taking it's place amongst the hottest selling toys of all time (for kids and adults) and a general annoyance in the classroom (which has led it to be banned in many schools).
The passion of its users to spin wherever they go and find such calming joy in operating them has led many to surmise that the fidget spinner is a useful tool for those with ADHD or anxiety, allowing them greater focus. Though many may swear by this, the fidget spinner's brain boosting properties have yet to be scientifically proven and many experts warn against these claims for everyone and that it is ultimately just an addicting toy.
Nevertheless, we have given into the craze and have forced our never-affable Cynical Crafter, to show us how to make one ourselves… and he spins out of control.
