There are a ton of products on the market today that claim to save you time and hassle in the kitchen. We tested out four popular kitchen gadgets to find out if they live up to their claims.
The Flippin Fantastic Pancake Maker
Claim: it makes the perfect size pancakes in one easy flip.
The silicone mold is supposed to make seven perfect pancakes. It can also be used for eggs, and retails for 14.95.
The pancake batter leaked out of the edges and made a huge mess. Maybe really, really, really thick batter is necessary for this product to work? Also, a lot of people will probably find the resulting pancakes too small. We give this product a thumbs down.
The Robo-Twist
Claim: it opens any can or jar, without the use of your hands.
Robo-Twist is a hands free can opener that it supposed to open any can or jar with ease, and it retails for $24.99.
It worked like a charm! However, the old school way—by knocking the handle of a butter knife on the top edges of a tricky jar—works just as well. But if you have arthritis or other issues with your hands, this product could save you a lot of trouble.
The Sushezi
Claim: it makes perfect sushi rolls every time.
It retails online for about $13, and works a bit like a caulking gun, pushing the rice onto the nori.
Unfortunately, the rice tended to stick the inside the gun, so it wasn't a perfect roll. You'd have as much success forming the sushi by hand, even if you aren't a pro.
EZ Egg Cracker
Claim: the EZ Egg Cracker cracks, peels and separate eggs perfectly without any shells.
It worked great for cracking eggs! It wasn't as effective for cracking the shell off of a boiled egg. the white stuck to the shell. It kind of half-worked for separating yolks, it was a little finicky and the yolk kept slipping through the trap and into the bowl. But if simply cracking eggs if your issue, this product has it covered.
