Looking for a simple DIY project that'll add some holiday elegance to your space? This step-by-step guide will show you how to turn an evergreen wreath from the grocery store or market into a breathtaking candle chandelier with minimal effort.

Watch the video to see how quickly this project comes together, then scroll down for the full materials list and instructions.

Materials

  • 1 plate or other circular object, in same size as wreath frame
  • Large piece of cardboard
  • X-Acto knife
  • Hot glue gun
  • 1 (approx. 22-inch) ready-made evergreen wreath (ideally with a 10-inch metal frame)
  • 3 (3-inch wide x 4-inch tall) glass candle holders
  • 3 (2.5-inch wide x 3-inch tall) pillar candles
  • 3 (2-inch wide) pieces of ribbon, 40 inches long

Instructions

Place a plate in the centre of the cardboard and use an X-Acto knife to carefully cut out a circle that's 1 inch larger than the plate. Be sure to protect the surface underneath.

Cut a hole in the centre of the cardboard circle to create a ring that's about 1.5 inches wide. This will form the base that attaches to your wreath.

Glue the cardboard ring to the metal frame on the back of the wreath, ensuring that it is centred and secure.

Loop a piece of ribbon over the wreath, tightly tie the ends and hide the knot inside the foliage of the wreath. Repeat with the remaining pieces of ribbon, making sure to space them out equally around the circumference of the wreath.

Glue the bottom of each candle holder to the cardboard ring, placing them in between the ribbon ties but keeping them spaced out enough to avoid the ribbons coming into contact with the candle's heat or flame. Place a candle in each holder.

Tie the ribbons at the desired height and hang them from a ceiling hook that can support the chandelier's weight.

Fire safety reminder: Never leave candles unattended. Keep them clear of flammable objects and always extinguish candles before leaving the room or going to bed.
