Toronto's Josh Donaldson is a Silver Slugger Award winner for the first time in his career.

The 29-year-old was named as a recipient of the award by MLB on Thursday as the top offensive third baseman in the American League.

Donaldson batted .297 with a .939 on-base plus slugging percentage last season, helping the Blue Jays to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 1993. He had 41 homers in the regular season and led the league in runs scored (122) and runs batted in (123).

Donaldson is the first Blue Jays third baseman to win a Silver Slugger Award since Kelly Gruber won one in 1990.
