Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper is one of three finalists for the NL MVP award who played for teams that had disappointing seasons.

Harper is joined by Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt and Cincinnati's Joey Votto, from Toronto, the Baseball Writers' Association of America announced Tuesday. Votto was the 2010 winner of the NL MVP award.

Josh Donaldson of the AL East champion Blue Jays, Lorenzo Cain of the World Series champion Royals and 2014 winner Mike Trout of the Angels are the American League finalists for MVP.

The National League Cy Young award features a close competition among Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs, Zack Greinke of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the NL earned run average leader among starting pitchers and three-time Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers. Kershaw won both the Cy Young and the MVP award in 2014.

David Price, who finished with the Blue Jays after a late July trade, is included in the finalists for the American League Cy Young award, going against Houston Astros' Dallas Keuchel and the Oakland A's Sonny Gray.

Winners will be announced next week on MLB Network, beginning with the Rookie of the Year awards on Monday. Manager of the Year winners will be revealed Tuesday, followed by Cy Young Award winners Wednesday and MVPs on Thursday.
