The wild, eclectic life of director Ted Kotcheff

If you've ever spent a weekend on the couch, in front of the tube, you owe Ted Kotcheff a thank you. 

If it wasn't for Kotcheff, you would never have stayed up too late, watching episode after episode of detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler hunting down bad guys on Law and Order: Special Victim's Unit. Kotcheff was one of the producers who made the addictive, long-running crime series a reality. 

He's also the director behind movies like First Blood, Weekend at Bernie's and '70s classics like Fun With Dick and Jane, North Dallas Forty and The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz. And Kotcheff's life story is just as wild and eclectic as his films.

Today, Kotcheff joins Tom Power to discuss his many accomplishments, which he chronicles in his new book, Director's Cut: My Life in Film (out now).
