Maggie Rogers may have a 'powerful connection' to Pharrell, but they're not friends

Maggie Rogers is aware of the strange reality she's living right now. 

The musician, who is currently playing sold-out shows across North America, quickly rose to fame thanks to a viral video of her playing her music for Pharrell Williams at NYU. The clip shows the famous music producer speechless as he listens to Rogers's song, "Alaska," and offering nothing but praise. 

But contrary to popular belief, the two didn't strike a friendship. In fact, Rogers hasn't seen or heard from Pharrell since. "It's incredibly strange to have this powerful connection to somebody I don't really know at all, but that's my reality right now," she explains. 

The results of that moment have led her to her latest EP though, titled Now That the Light is Fading, and the aforementioned string of tour dates. Hear more about what Rogers has to say about her whirlwind year on today's show.
