In a segment that we call the q Thursday Headliner, we invite a band or artist we think you need to hear to kick off the show with a live performance.

This week, Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle dropped by the q studio to perform some songs from his new solo EP, Rough Side Out, which is out everywhere tomorrow. He also sat down with host Tom Power to talk about the making of the record, touring and Newfoundland's harsh winters.

Doyle was joined by Cory Tetford, Todd Lumley and Kendel Carson. He also brought along special guest Jess Moskaluke to perform his song What the Whisky Won't Do.
