Mad Max director George Miller on finding hope in a broken world
Director George Miller joins Shad to discuss his return, 30 years later, to the dystopian world of Mad Max. His 1981 film, starring a young Mel Gibson, not only launched a star but also popularised a post-apocalyptic style that has endured to this day.
After a smash hit Mad Max trilogy, Miller went on to write and direct an eclectic range of movies — from Babe to Oscar-winning Happy Feet. Now he's ready to rediscover the bleak desert landscape and anti-hero that started it all. He joins Shad to discuss the path from the original to the reboot, and Mad Max's greatest flaw.
"He's a man running away from his better self, until one day that better self catches up to him."
