Director on camera: Nicolas Winding Refn's creative process exposed
In the public eye, director Nicolas Winding Refn is known for his critically-acclaimed film Drive and its polarizing successor, Only God Forgives -- both starring Ryan Gosling. But until now his crises of confidence have happened discreetly, behind the scenes.
Now the new film My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, by Winding Refn's wife Liv Corfixen, has turned the tables on the filmmaker. Just as Eleanor Coppola captured the making of Apocalypse Now in her film Hearts of Darkness, Corfixen captured her husband's struggle to follow up on the film that received a standing ovation at Cannes.
The result is an intimate look at Winding Refn's creative process and the impact his film career has had on his family. The film will be available Friday through video on demand.
