Date rape. Abortion. Gay bashing.  Cyber stalking. If real teenagers have dealt with it, Degrassi has dramatized it.

For over three decades, the Canadian teen drama has been unflinching in its portrayal of the adolescent experience, combining boldness and sincerity in a way that changed teen-targeted TV.

As Degrassi celebrates its 35th anniversary, surprise celebrity guest host Kevin Smith catches up with Degrassi co-creator Linda Schuyler. She reflects on how the real teenagers on the show -- like high school itself -- are always and never the same.

Last night, the show won Canadian Screen Awards in all four categories in which it was nominated.
