Chilly Gonzales will school you with his mash-up masterclass

With an inimitable panache, Jason Beck — better known by his stage name Chilly Gonzales — brings ideas from pop music into the classical works he composes.

Chilly Gonzales is, simply put, one of q's favourite artists. The Canadian pianist, composer, singer, rapper and producer is a master of breaking down barriers. With an inimitable panache, he brings ideas from pop music into the classical works he composes.

Today Gonzales joins Shad on stage to perform from his newest album, Chambers, alongside the Kaiser Quartett. He also explains why the boundaries between high and low art are unnecessary, how rap in particular has changed him as an artist and how he holds fast to his larger-than-life stage persona.
