Victory for passenger advocate as Porter Airlines ordered to pay cash to people bumped from flights

More Canadian airline passengers will now get cash if they get bumped. The Canadian Transportation Agency has ordered Porter Airlines to pay customers who are bumped from a domestic flight -- and to make sure they get a free flight back to their point of origin, if they don't want to continue their trip. 

It's another victory for the Canadian passenger rights advocate Gabor Lukacs. He tells As It Happens guest host Susan Bonner, "I just don't see any reason why someone who paid cash for a ticket should be getting anything other than cash for compensation."

Now, the airline will have to pay compensation of up to $1,300. The airline was ordered to make the changes by the Canadian Transportation Agency.
