The Queen's giant picnic by the numbers
10,000 guests enjoy picnic basket feast in the presence of royalty
The Queen celebrates her birthday in a big way every year in June, although her actual birthday is in April. Now that she's 90, this year's festivities came to a close on Sunday at the Patron's Lunch.
It was billed as the largest-ever street party along The Mall in London, close to Buckingham Palace. Guests got lunch, a front row seat to the parade and a glimpse of the Queen and other members of the Royal Family.
How big was the party? Here are some numbers.
The royal picnic basket
All 10,000 guests at Sunday's picnic were to each receive a wicker picnic basket filled with goodies and drinks catered by Marks and Spencer. The retail giant says the menu "showcases the very best of British produce and ingredients."
Guests were to have their lunch and afternoon tea on picnic tables installed all along the Mall near Buckingham Palace. Here's a look at what was on the menu.
