Another Tuesday, another set of U.S. primaries. This time, voters in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island were at the polls.

Pennsylvania has the most delegates up for grabs for both the Republicans and the Democrats. Results started coming in shortly after polls closed at 8 p.m. ET.

Front-runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were counting on winning enough delegates tonight to make it almost impossible for their rivals to catch up. Trump swept the Republican contest, U.S. media reported, while Clinton took four states and Bernie Sanders took one in the Democratic contest.

Reporters from CBC's Washington bureau were in the U.S. providing analysis and up-to-the-minute results. Recap the evening in our live blog coverage below.
