Lego Batman casts Michael Cera, of Arrested Development, as Robin
Canadian actor rejoins Arrested Development co-star Will Arnett for Lego spinoff
Producers of Lego Batman have tapped another Arrested Development cast member for the forthcoming movie, with Canadian actor Michael Cera slated to portray Robin.
Brampton, Ont.-raised Cera, who appeared as George-Michael Bluth on the cult favourite comedy series, has signed a deal to voice Batman's junior crimefighting partner in the Lego Movie spinoff, according to industry trade publications.
Cera, who found fame early on with Arrested Development and in films such as Juno and Superbad, has since branched out into screenwriting, directing and making music.
Lego Batman is one of three follow-up films announced after the blockbuster success 2014's The Lego Movie, which featured Toronto actor Will Arnett as the voice of the Dark Knight.
Arnett will return to voice the Caped Crusader for the spinoff. He also appeared on Arrested Development, starring as George Oscar (G.O.B.) Bluth, the uncle of Cera's character.
Lego Batman, featuring a script by Seth Grahame-Smith and direction by Chris McKay, is slated to hit theatres in February 2017.
