Fans gathered to honour Bobbi Kristina Brown on Monday night in Riverdale, Georgia, more than one week after the 21-year-old was found unresponsive in a bathtub.

Bobbi Kristina, the only daughter of singing sensation Whitney Houston and R&B recording artist Bobby Brown, remains on life-support and in a medically induced coma, according to People magazine.

The aspiring singer was found by her partner, Nick Gordon, and a friend at her home in Roswell, an Atlanta suburb, on Jan. 31.

Monday's candlelight vigil, hosted by the City of Riverdale and broadcast live on FOX 5 Atlanta, began with music recorded by Houston, who was also found unresponsive in a bathtub on Feb 11, 2012, and later died.

Hundreds of members of the public joined community leaders and Bobbi Kristina's relatives, including her uncle, Tommy Brown, in song and prayer.

"On behalf of Bobbi Kris, I know she thanks all of you for your support and continued prayers for her recovery," Tommy Brown told the crowd, "not just while you're here. Just continue to pray for us all."

Relatives told Fox that Bobby Brown skipped the vigil to stay by Bobbi Kristina's side at the hospital.

Anniversary of Whitney's death

The circumstances of Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization share eerie similarities to the death of her mother who died three years ago Wednesday.

The multiple Grammy-award winning singer was found submerged in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was 48.

Both Whitney and her daughter lived in the constant glare of entertainment industry attention, both struggled with drugs and both married men criticized by family and friends as wrong for them.

Unconfirmed media reports suggest that Bobbi Kristina's family intend to take her off life support Wednesday on the anniversary of Whitney's death.
