The centre recently added a pool
The City of Windsor has agreed to spend $90,000 to study the feasibility of adding indoor facilities for tennis, football and soccer at the WFCU Centre.
Councillors voted to support the study during their meeting Monday night.
The decision is the latest in a series of renovations and additions to the complex including a pool and $1 million in upgrades including new rink boards, glass and additional dressing rooms.
Mayor Drew Dilkens said offering improved facilities could help the city attract more sports tourism and would benefit both local teams and area residents.
"I want it to be good enough for soccer, tennis and football so that the folks in this community can train in a facility that actually helps elevate their potential to to reach their goals," he added.
A new expansion at the centre could also encourage development in the neighbourhood, according to the mayor who mentioned a hotel as a possible addition to the area.
The city is in talks London developer Shmuel Farhi, about buying 6 hectares of land near the complex.
