Downtown Windsor stabbing leaves one person with 'serious injuries'

A stabbing in downtown Windsor Tuesday night sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

Windsor police say one person was sent to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in the area of Wyandotte and Church Streets.

Officers were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after witnesses heard someone possibly in distress.

One man sustained serious injuries as a result of a stabbing and was transported to hospital. A woman suffered minor injuries.

Police say the victims made arrangements to meet with another man and woman who were known to them. They attempted to sell a piece of jewellery but the suspects took it and began to walk away.

An altercation broke out which led to the the two victims being injured. The suspects fled the area. 

The Major Crimes Branch is investigating. Police have not released a description of the suspects.
