Windsor-Essex region has 147 pharmacies, 100 of them in Windsor alone
Windsor police have received a $84,867 grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, to help fight pharmacy crime in Windsor Essex.
There are 147 pharmacies in Windsor Essex, and 100 of them are in Windsor alone, according to a police service media release.

All local police services in Windsor Essex will participate in the initiative, including the LaSalle police and Amherstburg police as well as the Essex County Pharmacists Association.
The crime prevention plan has three stages. The first is for individual pharmacies to complete a safety questionnaire. Then, police in each jurisdiction will conduct a crime prevention assessment of each location. The final step is for the initiative to implement techniques designed to reduce the identified and targeted crimes.
The grant funds from the ministry are forfeited to the province, following criminal prosecutions, after being seized as proceeds of crime.
The money is then made available to police services through a system of grants to fund local community safety and well-being initiatives.
