Staying up late for Windsor's Midnight Special
Windsor Morning's Jonathan Pinto pays a visit to Midnight Special, a late-night, pop-up taco stand
I'll do just about anything to experience good food. Time and distance isn't an issue. Crossing a border is a piece of cake.
My latest discovery, however, was a little more difficult.
I had to stay up late. Really late.
I realize that that doesn't sound too hard — but when you wake up at 4 a.m. for Windsor Morning, it can be tough to stay up past 10 p.m.
After an early evening nap, I headed out to one of downtown Windsor's newest restaurants: Midnight Special. It's a late-night taco stand that operates out of Terra Cotta pizzeria every Friday and Saturday.
Think of it like a permanent pop-up. When Terra Cotta shuts down for the night, Midnight Special takes over.

According to Rob Preteroti, the man behind Midnight Special, the double-decker tacos are his best seller. Here's how they are made.
Looking for late-night tacos?
Midnight Special runs out of Terra Cotta pizzeria, located at 318 Pelissier St, just south of University Avenue. Tacos are served from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m every Friday and Saturday night.
Make sure to ask for "green heat," Midnight Special's signature hot sauce.
