Windsor police made 24 arrests and laid 48 charges during a two-day operation at apartment buildings at 300 Glengarry Avenue.
Members of the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit (POP) worked in partnership with the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation (WECHC) "to support community safety," on Aug. 20 and 21, according to Windsor police.
Jill Lawrence, superintendent of patrol services, said the initiative started in response to concerns from residents in the Glengarry neighbourhood and the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation.
Charges laid include the following:
- Assault with a weapon (six counts).
- Assault (two counts).
- Arson (two counts).
- Theft under $5,000 (eight counts).
- Failure to comply with a court release order (five counts).
- Failure to comply with conditions of probation (four counts).
