One person has died and one more is in hospital following a shooting and stabbing in Weston-Pellam Park Monday night, Toronto police say.

At 11:45 p.m., police received reports that someone had been shot and stabbed at a residence on Silverthorn Avenue in the area of Old Weston Road and Rockwell Avenue, Det. Sgt. Jeff Allington told reporters Tuesday.

"Upon arrival, police located a 29-year-old male inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene," Allington said.

Police later identified the victim as Thomas Coish, 29, of Toronto.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted, isolated incident, Allington said. The homicide unit has now taken over the investigation.

A 58-year-old man was also found inside the residence, suffering from stab wounds, Allington said. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Allington said, but is now in stable condition.

The two men were related and lived together in the residence, Allington said.

Police are now seeking two white, male suspects who were wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. The suspects fled on foot, Allington said, last seen heading south on Silverthorn Avenue.

Police are canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and video of the area. Allington asked anyone who lives in the area to check their property for discarded items, such as clothing, that do not belong to them.

Allington said Tuesday morning it was too early in the investigation to provide more information on the incident.
