Motorcyclist dead after collision with SUV in Mount Albert, Ont.

One person is dead after a motorcycle and an SUV collided in Mount Albert, Ont., on Monday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

One person is dead after a motorcycle and an SUV collided in Mount Albert, Ont., on Monday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

The collision happened in the intersection of Highway 48 and Mount Albert Road at about 4:30 p.m., OPP said in a post on X. Mount Albert is 65 kilometres northeast of Toronto.

Police said a 51-year-old Stouffville, Ont., resident was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the driver of the motorcycle, police added.

Aurora's OPP detachment closed a stretch of Highway 48 in both directions to allow officers to investigate but the highway has since been reopened.
