Nominate 2025's YWCA Women of Distinction
Nominate YWCA Women of Distinction
As a proud media sponsor, CBC Toronto is helping YWCA Toronto look for the next cohort of gender justice champions to celebrate in 2025.
In 1981, YWCA Toronto hosted the first Women of Distinction Awards Gala, and over the years they have honoured 319 women.
The women honoured are trail blazers, feminist role models and champions within the local community. Through their unwavering commitment to helping women, girls and gender diverse individuals, they challenge systemic discrimination and create positive change locally and globally.
"While YWCA Toronto is dedicated to improving the lives of women, girls and gender diverse people through our life stabilizing and supportive programs and services, we are also deeply committed to celebrating the successes of champions in our community," says YWCA Toronto Chief Executive Officer, Heather McGregor.
Nominations that recognize the contributions of Black, Indigenous and racialized people, as well as 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, are strongly encouraged. These awards honour all women, including trans women.
The Women of Distinction Awards is YWCA Toronto's largest annual fundraising event. Proceeds make it possible for YWCA Toronto to help women, girls and gender diverse people secure housing, flee violence, heal from trauma and build sustainable futures.
