Thunder Bay police charge two men with weapons offences
Police seize rifle, ammunition after report of woman being held against her will
A 25-year-old man has been charged with forcible confinement, assault and several weapons offences after police were called to a Vickers Street apartment on Saturday.
A 16-year-old male resident of the apartment is facing weapons charges as well.
Both were charged after police say they received an anonymous 911 call on Saturday afternoon saying a female was being held against her will in an apartment on Vickers Street North.
Thunder Bay Police said officers were unable to make contact with anyone inside the apartment for nearly two hours.
"The Emergency Task Unit entered the apartment just after 4:30 p.m. and found an 18-year-old female and a 25-year-old male who claimed to have been sleeping during the incident," said a police news release issued on Sunday.
"Investigators were able to establish that the female had been the victim of domestic violence," according to the release.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody "at the perimeter of the scene," police said.
The man and the teen are scheduled to appear in court on Monday. Their names are not being released by police.
