Missing and murdered indigenous women: stories of northern Ontario women

A CBC News investigation into unsolved cases of missing and murdered indigenous women continues to share details of deaths and disappearances across Canada, including more than 20 women from northern Ontario.

Jamie McGuire was a mother of two from Thunder Bay with plans to become a social worker when she died in 1994.

A CBC News investigation into unsolved cases of missing and murdered indigenous women continues to share details of deaths and disappearances across Canada, including more than 20 women from northern Ontario.

For the past year, CBC News has been investigating these unsolved cases, some of which date back as far as 1951. CBC Thunder Bay found 25 of the women are from northern Ontario.

CBC News tweeted the names and cases of the more than 250 missing and murdered women and girls in its investigation during a 24 hour period to mark the announcement on Tuesday of the much-anticipated national inquiry into the issue.
