Funeral for Sudbury Glencore miner Richard Pigeau set for Wednesday

A funeral will be held on Wednesday for a Sudbury man who was killed in a mining accident last Tuesday.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday for a Sudbury man who was killed in a mining accident last Tuesday. 

On Oct. 20, Richard Pigeau, 54, died after being hit by a piece of equipment underground at Glencore's Nickel Rim South mine.

An investigation into his death continues.

According to his obituary, the father of two was also a "devoted pépère" who "enjoyed spending time on his boat, listening to music and quiet time reading." 

"He loved watching his Leafs lose and the Jays head to the post season," the obituary continued. "Most of all, he cherished every second spent with his beautiful grandchildren." 

Pigeau's funeral will take place at the Cooperative Funeral Home on Wednesday.
