The family of six-week-old Nikosis Cantre showed up at provincial court this morning with drummers, posters and an angry message for the accused killer of the little boy.

The 16-year-old accused of second-degree murder appeared briefly by video from Regina. The defence just received the psychiatric report and adjourned her matter until Sept. 21.

Outside court, Cantre's family – wearing white T-shirts with his image – gathered as drummers sang a song about the need to stand together.

And then after, Cantre's great-grandmother embraced a poster of the boy and wept as she talked about missing him.

Cantre died July 3 from blunt force trauma to the head, according to Cantre's grandfather. Police have not said how the baby died.

Cantre's accused killer had been taken in by his family. She had recently escaped from Kilburn Hall.
