The Crown is seeking an adult sentence for a 16-year-old girl accused of killing six-week-old Nikosis Cantre in Saskatoon on July 3.

The teen was charged with second degree murder after Cantre was found injured at around 7 a.m. CST in Saskatoon's College Park neighbourhood. Police say he died in hospital.

Family members say the little boy died of blunt force trauma to the head.

On Monday, the Crown called for the accused to be sentenced as an adult, echoing calls from Cantre's great-grandmother last week.

The case is currently subject to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen will also undergo a 30-day psychological assessment at the North Battleford Hospital.
