Saskatchewan Rush best Colorado, take top spot in NLL west

The Saskatchewan Rush stormed into Denver, Colo., Friday night and pounded the home town Mammoth 11-5.

The Saskatchewan Rush stormed into Denver, Colo., Friday night and pounded the home town Mammoth 11-5 in National Lacrosse League action, securing top spot in the west division.

Ben McIntosh had four goals and an assist for the Rush (11-4), who now sit one point ahead of Colorado (10-5). Robert Church scored twice and Dan Taylor chipped in with four helpers for the prairie team.

Jarrett Davis, Zack Greer and Mark Matthews had a goal and two assists apiece for Saskatchewan and Kyle Rubisch, and Ryan Dilks also scored.

Callum Crawford led the Mammoth with two goals and an assist. John Grant had a goal and two helpers and Eli McLaughlin and Mike Burke rounded out the offence.

Rush goaltender Aaron Bold made 42 saves. Colorado's Dillon Ward stopped 45 shots.

The two rivals will do it all over again tonight, this time in Saskatoon, Sask., at 7:30 p.m. CST.

Saturday's sell-out game will be the final regular season home game for the Rush, who will play two more road games before starting the 2016 NLL playoffs at home in May. 

Colorado will finish its season with two home games to round out the regular season before starting its own playoff run.
