Riders ink deal with first round pick Nic Demski
University of Manitoba player picked sixth overall by the Roughriders
Former University of Manitoba receiver Nic Demski will officially take the field in Roughrider green and white.
The team drafted Demski sixth overall in the CFL Draft two weeks ago.
Demski played four seasons with the U of M, collecting 27 catches for 589 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 47 yards over six carries and was good for 272 yards as a punt returner.
"He's an explosive player...a really dynamic kid that can probably bring some stuff to our team that we probably don't have in a national kind of a player," Roughrider general manager Brendan Taman said shortly after the draft.
Contract details were not released, as per club policy.
Demski will first suit up with the team at rookie camp, which kicks off next Wednesday in Regina.
The rest of the team attends camp beginning May 31 in Saskatoon.
