Regina police Tasered a man last night after seeing him allegedly assaulting a female — but he got away anyway.

It happened just before 8 p.m. CST Thursday on the 1200 block of Athol Street in the North Central area.

When officers encountered the man, he was actively assaulting a female, police said.

They chased the man and tried to arrest him, but he challenged the officers and there was a struggle, police said.

At that point, an officer fired a Taser — an electrical weapon — at the man. However, he fled the scene and could not be located.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777- 6500 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
