Man with knives in both hands Tasered twice
Man, 48, charged with threatening a peace officer with a weapon
Regina police used a Taser on a man with big knives in both hands — but it didn't have the effect they expected.
On Thursday afternoon, officers were called to a residence on the 1600 block of Toronto Street, east of downtown, for a report of a male causing a disturbance.
They found a man inside the house "holding a large knife in each hand," according to a news release.
They told him to drop the knives and when he failed to do so, an officer fired the Taser.
The man got up, still holding the knives, and police decided he needed to be Tasered again.
The man was then put under arrest and was taken to hospital for treatment of an injury he sustained from the knives, police said.
The 48-year-old has been charged with assaulting a peace officer while threatening to use a weapon, plus possession of an illegal drug.
He was scheduled to make his first appearance in court Friday morning.
