'High expectations': Regina Pats prep for hockey season
With high expectations, and many returning veterans, the Regina Pats have started practicing for the coming WHL season.
Regular season home opener for Pats is Sept. 23
The Regina Pats have begun training camp at the Co-operators Centre.
With several veteran returnees, the Pats could be one of the powerhouses in the Western Hockey League this year.
"I think we have high expectations," Sam Steel, an 18-year-old forward with the club, said. "You don't want to say anything too soon, but they're high."
Steel's teammate, 19-year-old defenceman Connor Hobbs, added that players are approaching the coming season with high hopes.
"Absolutely. We've talked a lot about it already this year," Hobbs said. "We set the bar last year and the year before. We just keep on progressing."
The Pats open their regular season on Sept. 23 when they host the Prince Albert Raiders.
