Canada takes on defending curling champ Switzerland, USA in day 2 of women's worlds
Canada vs Switzerland 9 a.m. CST, Canada vs USA 5 p.m. CST
Fresh off an opening day win against Denmark on Saturday, Chelsea Carey and Team Canada are hoping to do the same against Switzerland and USA on Sunday for day two of the Women's World Curling tournament.
Canada's game against Switzerland got underway Sunday at 9 a.m. CST in Swift Current, Sask. Canada takes on USA in its second game of the day at 5 p.m. CST.
Current standings
- Canada: 1 win
- Switzerland: 1 win
- USA: 1 loss
Today's game against Switzerland could be a telling match for the team, as in 2015, Switzerland defeated Canada 5-3 in the tournament's championship game to take home gold and become the world champions.
Switzerland won its first game Saturday against USA 5-4. Canada's score against Denmark was 8-7.
"It actually wasn't that poorly a played game," said Carey in a press release about the team's win over Denmark.
"We gave them a soft three on the first end and we got a little fooled by some of the spots on the ice. We stayed patient and kept making shots and luckily enough we were able to pull it off in the end," she said.
