A daycare in Tryon wants the P.E.I. Department of Transportation to create a safer way for vehicles to turn into its business, but some residents aren't pleased with some of the changes the Merry Pop-Ins Child Care Centre has proposed.

About 80 vehicles turn off the Trans Canada Highway into the centre every day.

Merry Pop-Ins says it would like to see a proposed cul-de-sac on Samuel Holland Lane be expanded to include the parking lot of the daycare.

Resident Karen Smith does not like the route Merry Pop-Ins has proposed because she says it would result in roads on three sides of her property and decrease her property's value.

She is also worried about her child's safety.

"I've got a little boy and he's not running yet, but he will be before too long and that's a safety issue. You know little boys don't really look before they run out on roads and if it's a busy road two times a day with school buses and so on like that, [it's] pretty dangerous for him," said Smith.

The province says that no projects will go ahead unless there is agreement from people in the area. Officials say they have no plans to proceed with any changes right now.
