If you're looking for a last-minute option with Hatchimals impossible to get, or something for a tech-crazy grownup, Amber Mac has answers for you.

The P.E.I. native is a regular commentator on tech trends for CNN, CBS, and The Marilyn Denis Show.

Mac recently faced a conundrum many parents are dealing with this year: what to do about Hatchimals, this year's must have toy.

She bought a Furby Connect for her own son.

"It's not exactly the same, but it still is a stuffed animal that does connect through an app that has that high-tech capability to it, and it's only around $40," said Mac.

"It's a cute little character and kids love it."

Think practical

For the tech-loving adults in your life, Mac recommends looking at the many products emerging in the smart home and smart health categories.

A good option is a gift that helps someone get the most out of something they already have, says Mac. (Submitted)

For sheer wow factor, she is taken with levitating speakers.

"Levitating gadgets and technologies is a big thing right now. It's one of the hottest trends," she said.

"It's got that Jetsons feel to it."

If you're looking for cool and practical, Mac suggests cell phone accessories: cases, tripods, or telephoto lenses.
