P.E.I. RCMP say the driver of a car was killed Wednesday morning when the car crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming SUV in Hazelgrove.

Police say the driver — a Queens County man in his 20s — was the only person in the car at the time. A woman in the SUV suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Cpl. Gavin Moore said first responders were called to the crash on Route 2 at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Feb. 5.

He said an RCMP collision reconstructionist was at the scene and the investigation is ongoing, but it's not clear what caused the car to cross the centre line.

Route 2 was reduced to one lane for several hours but has since reopened.
