Short survey will be available online until after vote in District 9
Elections P.E.I. wants to hear from Islanders on how to improve voting by completing a short online survey.
The survey asks voters what their experience was like and whether they have any suggestions for future elections. Paul Alan, manager of operations and communications with Elections P.E.I., said approximately 2,000 voters have participated in the survey since election day April 23.
"There's been some comments that are saying this is probably the best election that they've been able to get out and vote in than in the past ... so these are things we like to hear and we'd like to build on," said Alan.
Elections P.E.I. made the same survey available after last year's municipal elections — and say the feedback helped tweak things for this year's provincial election.
Available provincially for 1st time
The paper surveys were available at the polls for the first time during a provincial election last month, and have been available online ever since.
Alan said in addition to gauging voter experience, the survey also asks whether people are comfortable with computers being part of the process, with the idea of potentially introducing technologies like touch screen voting or tabulation.
He said 2015 was the last election where voters were crossed off using a pencil and a ruler — this time around, that process was computerized.
"It's just some nice intel for us to see where their comfort level is at the polling stations," said Alan.
He hopes Islanders will take a minute to share their feedback.

"Not everyone's perfect," said Alan.
"So there are some areas that we may need to consider revamping our system or reshaping it so we encourage everyone to voice your opinion. We'd love to get them all in, good or bad, and help us to help you in the future."
The survey will be open to the public until after the District 9 election, which is expected to happen in June or July.
