Two youths were arrested after Kings District RCMP found a truck crashed and abandoned in a ditch on a rural road in eastern P.E.I. early Sunday morning, according to a news release.

RCMP said investigators discovered the truck was stolen from a residential yard in the area.

'We hope that they have learned their lesson but don't feel that people should be writing nasty things about them. Everyone makes mistakes,' says Courtney McGarry, one of the truck's owners. (Jason McGarry)

"Miraculously no significant injuries were sustained to the vehicle occupants as the vehicle sustained significant damages," said RCMP in the release.

Police said the youths were arrested Monday, were both released to a parent and are scheduled to appear in Youth Court "in the coming month."

They face charges of theft over $5,000 and trespassing at night.

'Everyone make mistakes'

"We would appreciate if people take into consideration that teenagers make mistakes and we do not condone what happened but we are just happy no one was seriously injured," said Courtney McGarry, one of the owners of the truck, in a Facebook message to CBC.

"We hope that they have learned their lesson but don't feel that people should be writing nasty things about them. Everyone makes mistakes."
