P.E.I. Liberals continue to hold lead in poll
The P.E.I. Liberal Party continues to hold the support of about half of Islanders, much as it has for the last two years, according to a poll released Monday by Corporate Research Associates.
August | November | |
Liberals | 48% | 50% |
Progressive Conservatives | 28% | 23% |
New Democrats | 16% | 15% |
Given a margin of error of 5.7 percentage points, the poll did not definitively show any movement in support. The largest change in the poll was an apparent drop in Tory support, from 28 to 23 per cent.
The poll was conducted from Nov. 5 to 25. Premier Robert Ghiz announced he was stepping down pending a Liberal leadership convention on Nov. 13, right in the middle of the polling period.
If Ghiz's departure had any impact on voter preferences, the CRA poll does not show it.
The margin of error for decided voters is 7.1% based on a sample size of 189.
CRA spoke to 300 Islanders. The poll is considered accurate 19 times out of 20.
