Marine company moves from Ontario to P.E.I.
Aspin Kemp and Associates, a designer and developer of products and services for the marine and offshore industry, is relocating its head office from Owen Sound, Ontario to Montague, P.E.I.
"With this decision to relocate, AKA will bring a number of highly skilled jobs to Montague," said Innovation Minister Allen Roach in a news release.
The move is expected to see 25 jobs move to Montague. The company already employs 70 people on the Island.
AKA currently has operations in two P.E.I. locations - Stratford and Pooles Corner - as well as facilities in Dartmouth, N.S.; Owen Sound, Ont.; Houston, Texas; and Singapore.
The company will take over the building formerly occupied by the federal government’s addictions research centre.
"We want to build on the rich maritime history this area has and, through our work and in collaboration with other companies, put Eastern PEI on the map as a centre of excellence worldwide for marine and offshore technologies and science," said company CEO Jason Aspin.
In addition to head office personnel, the company will also base its innovation group in Montague.
