The general manager of New Glasgow Lobster Suppers in P.E.I. is breathing a sigh of relief that there will be enough lobster to meet the Mother's Day demand.

Carl Nicholson wasn't sure earlier this week if they would even be able to open on Sunday at all.

But he said, now that one lobster fishing area on P.E.I. is opening Friday, everything is a go.

"We were kind of nervous about whether or not there would be a supply of lobster for Mother's Day," said Nicholson. "I mean we were prepared to be closed if the fishery wasn't going to be going."

"But now that we've heard word that they are going to be setting on Friday and able to pull some traps on Saturday, my supplier says he will have lobster for me for Sunday, Mother's Day, which is great."

Nicholson said they go through about 360 kilograms of lobster on a typical Mother's Day.

He said in the 26 years that he has been manager, there has never been a concern before about having a supply of lobster for the holiday.

Fishermen's Wharf Lobster suppers in North Rustico is also a popular Mother's Day location.

Staff said they will also open as planned on Sunday.
