Jason Saggo returns to UFC for March 5 fight
Saggo will take on Justin Salas at UFC 196
P.E.I. mixed martial fighter, Jason Saggo is getting ready to take part in his third UFC fight on Saturday, March 5.
"It's comparable to a hockey player getting to play in the NHL so the UFC is like the mecca of mixed martial arts. So for me to compete at the highest level that would be the UFC," said Saggo.
The fighter has been training for the fight after recovering from an injury four months ago. He ruptured his Achilles tendon while training for a UFC fight last year.
The recovery process was long and painful. Saggo said he couldn't walk for weeks.
"They say when you get injured it's not only a process of recovery but a process of discovery so I`ve just been doing a lot of self analysis and seeing what parts of my game do I need to improve on in the transition the flow and also just getting back to the mental side of it and enjoying the process," said Saggo.
"You know sometimes when you're younger you're just a kid you like to do it, it's your passion, you have fun with it and then as you get older as an adult it becomes like a job and it kind of drags you down in doing the same thing. So I`m getting back to the fun part of it where I'm starting to enjoy it on a day to day basis again."
Saggo will take on Justin Salas at UFC 196 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
