The government on Prince Edward Island has announced funding for seven projects under the new Northside Windmill Enhancement Fund.

The fund was set up by the province to help community and business projects in the Hermanville and Clearspring area.

It's one way the government is helping to compensate people living in the area for the new $60-million wind farm now in operation there.

The P.E.I. Energy Corporation is spending $125,000 per year for the next five years on the fund.

The seven projects just announced have a total value of more than $115,000.

The projects include improvements to the Shipwreck Point Cafe, upgrades to the Pioneer Cemetery and even money for Fly P.E.I. to buy new fishing equipment for guided fishing expeditions.
