Outbreak during one week sees 3 people hospitalized
Health PEI says the number of lab-confirmed cases of flu on P.E.I. this season have increased to 66.
Of that amount, seven were confirmed the week of April 10 to 16 during an outbreak. Three of the seven people were hospitalized.
There have been 35 people hospitalized and one death during this year's flu season.
Those numbers are well below the 2014-2015 flu season which was considered by health officials as a particularly bad flu season.
During that season, there were a total of 209 cases and of those 98 were admitted to hospital. There were nine deaths reported.
Reported, lab-confirmed flu cases are typically only a small portion of actual cases in the community, as not everyone is tested for influenza.
