North Country New York Democrats were feeling good about their chances in the Nov. 8 U.S. election.

It's election day south of the border, and CBC Television anchor Adrian Harewood and digital journalist Andrew Foote visited Ogdensburg, N.Y.

Adrian hosts CBC News at Six from the small town in upstate New York, while Andrew checked in on CBC Radio throughout the day.

Many people in Ogdensburg said they're hoping Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again" can rub off on their community, where they lamented the loss of manufacturing jobs and a lack of young people drawn away to a brighter future.

Those who spoke to CBC News said they have varying degrees of enthusiasm for their vote for Trump, but were adamant that Hillary Clinton would not be the change their community needs.

While less widespread than Trump supporters, there are Clinton voters in Ogdensburg who said Trump is dangerous and Clinton knows the area's needs as a former Senator for New York.
