8 places to watch the U.S. election results in Ottawa

After a long and nasty campaign, millions of Americans will cast their votes on Tuesday. Bars and restaurants across Ottawa will be hosting viewing parties as the results roll in.

Whether you're looking for a partisan party or neutral ground, here are 8 places to be as the results roll in

The day has finally arrived.

After a long and nasty campaign, millions of Americans will cast their votes on Tuesday. 

Here are eight Ottawa spots where you can watch the results roll in Tuesday:

1. Heart & Crown, 67 Clarence St.

All TVs inside the ByWard Market watering hole will be tuned to election coverage as the group Democrats Abroad hosts a large viewing party. The group chair, David Schellenberg, says there will be Hillary Clinton T-shirts, buttons and badges on hand.

2. Oliver's Pub & Patio, Carleton University

Several Carleton University student groups will co-host "A Crooked and Deplorable Evening" at 9 p.m. at the on-campus pub, Ollie's.The Political Science Society, The United Nations Society, the Carleton Conservatives, and the Carleton Liberals will all be in attendance.

3. Union Local 613, 315 Somerset St. W.

For $35 (tip included), Union 613 invites you to "come join in the comedy" at its State of the Union Election Party, starting at 7 p.m. Ticket price includes "two food stations and a bunch of canapés." 

4. Earl of Sussex Pub, 431 Sussex Dr.

The University of Ottawa's Campus Conservatives will host a private viewing party at the bar starting at 8 p.m., but there will also be room for members of the public on a "first-come, first-served" basis. The pub is situated just metres from the U.S. embassy.

5. The Lieutenant's Pump, 361 Elgin St.

Conservatives from Ottawa Centre will be at the pub for a viewing party starting at 7 p.m.

6. The Red Lion Public House, 47 Clarence St.

The Canadian International Council will host a viewing party at the pub starting around 8 p.m. There will be election campaign trivia with a chance to win free prizes and drinks.

7. 1848

The University of Ottawa's campus bar says it's expecting to reach capacity early in the evening, and is encouraging people to arrive early. 

8. The Westin Ottawa, 11 Colonel By Dr.

The hotel is hosting a private, non-partisan viewing party in its ballroom for clients, customers and guests. The hotel says its chef has created a menu "reflective of the diversity of cuisine" from across the U.S. There will also be election-themed beverages.
